The Arch is very pleased to present Barcelona-based artist Oscar Abraham Pabón. Born in Venezuela, and having studied architecture there, Pabón builds on a visual language rooted in Latin American modernism. Red bricks, characteristic of the Venezuelan urban landscape, are given a completely new meaning by their clever placement together, and the sporadic application of paint. They are seemingly the debris of a mystical building, turned into a relic or ritual object. The material of the brick transcends its form and with it, its daily familiarity too.
