LISETTE VAN HOOGENHUYZE

'Stacks'

The Arch is delighted to present Dutch painter Lisette van Hooghenhuyze. Having grown up beside the beach, she noticed how there are fewers ways to show your identity while only wearing swimwear. Questioning the visual language of the beach became the center of Van Hoogenhuyze’s work. The loosely unframed canvasses she is known for seem to be wet beach towels waiting to dry. Her work entitled ‘Stacks’ goes even further; with four paintings rolled up and placed within a frame, she presents paintings as towels.
