EVA O'LEARY

'Happy Valley, PA (the neighborhood)'

The Arch is excited to present New York based Irish-American photographer Eva O’Leary. Although she left her small homogeneous hometown in Pennsylvania (in short ‘PA’) to study art in California and later Connecticut, her work has always been based around the culture that surrounded her growing up. In the series Happy Valley, referring to the nickname of her hometown, O’Leary studies aspects of American culture in crystal clear images, exploring how social systems continue to perpetuate ideologies of fantasy, power and control.
