The Arch is delighted to present Dutch young and upcoming artist Kaspar Dejong. In his smooth paintings, Dejong uses the signs and signals he comes across on a daily basis, transforming them into a meaningless void. Subtle lines of graphite, altered with details of spray-, oil- and acrylic-paint, appear to be randomly floating against a neutral background, making it very hard to read their once so obvious definition. In doing so, Dejong questions the meaning of our seemingly objective signs, which in fact only exist in the mind of the beholder.
