The Arch is proud to present Belgian sculptor Johan Tahon. His vigorous human figures represent the complex and conflicting nature of the human being. Made of plaster, bronze or ceramic, the rough sculptures are simultaneously sinister and comforting to look at. To Tahon, these objects are his answer to a universal strong spiritual emotion, deeply felt inside. Therefor, they are rather based on the interactive process between Tahon’s existential experience and the material, than outward forms. The captivating finished sculptures offer an intimate awareness of the self and imposes stillness.
